Picture this: lettuce at your local supermarket tested positive for E. Coli. Distributors, grocers and the Food and Drug Administration know which heads of lettuce are the culprits, but they decide to sell it anyway. Buyer beware.
This is similar to the scenario that played out in Michigan marijuana dispensaries when an estimated 64,000 pounds of marijuana was recalled in November on a strong suspicion that it may not be safe for consumption.
That’s because the safety lab that tested the recalled marijuana, Viridis Laboratories, issued test results that couldn’t be trusted, according to the Marijuana Regulatory Agency.
